Divali Celebration 2019
On Friday 25th of October 2019, the whole school was reunited to rejoice the annual celebration of Diwali. Celebrating Diwali is synonymous with choosing good over evil and Diyas (oil lamps) are symbolically lit to illuminate and guide this path.
At Northfields it is a tradition to welcome the Heads of school up on stage to light up a beautiful brass lamp to inaugurate the beginning of the festivity. Following the lamp lightning, various Year groups gave dance performances to enhance the celebration.
Year 6 students worked together to exquisitely perform a group choreography; two Year 7 girls prepared an exceptional dance mixing 2 contrasting dance styles in 1 choreography; Year 8 girls beautifully danced a contemporary dance to an Indian tune; several girls from Year 9,10 and 11 worked together to perform a magnificent mashup dance; 4 girls from Years 10,11 and 12 performed a traditional dandiya dance; and last but not least the Year 13 collaboratively worked to perform their last Diwali dance.
The event culminated with our famous fashion show which everyone eagerly anticipated.
After the assembly, we were all gathered on the basketball court to enjoy delicious Diwali cakes.
