The Middle School programme starts in Year 9 and follows through to Year 10 and to Year 11 (IGCSE years).
Objectives and Challenges
In addition to the rigorous demands of the academic curriculum, the Middle School programme includes other aspects of the holistic education we provide at Northfields International School. The school very proudly presents the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme (Bronze) and the Model United Nations (MUN). Both programmes give students a unique opportunity to experience life differently via service work, learning new skills, taking part in sports as well as debating and public speaking. These awards are recognised world-wide and are fully endorsed by international schools, universities and future employers.
The Academic Programme
Year 9 is a preparatory year for students, whereby they are exposed to a number of subjects which they learn through the MYP framework. This will allow them to experience the subjects first hand which will later on enable them to make an informed decision of their subject choices.
Year 10 is the beginning of the IGCSE programme where students choose 9 subjects and study these for a period of two years. The final examinations take place at the end of Year 11.
Year 11 is a crucial year and students sit their Mock Examinations in the second term and the final examinations in Term 3. Practical examinations are most likely to take place during the Easter holidays.
