National Day Celebration 2023
Events | 13 March 2023

On Monday 13th of March we belatedly celebrated the 55th anniversary on Mauritian Independence.

Our original plans were adapted following the closure of school the previous week due to heavy rain. Luckily with the assistance of Mr Patten, Mrs Rungasamy and the invaluable support of our non-academic staff, we were able to quickly organise an alternative celebration where we could appreciate and recognise this important date in history.

Our Secondary School Principal Mrs Daby spoke about the theme of harmony which was a key feature of this year’s celebrations and the importance of respecting diversity. Mrs Philogene, Head of School read the Prime Minister’s message to students which focused on the provision of learning opportunities.

We were also entertained by a rendition of Nou Zanfan zil Moris by an ensemble of students and Mr Patten, and heard the reflections of our Senior Prefects about our island nation. Whillst are celebrations were scaled back to avoid further disruption to our teaching and learning after several weather days, we enjoyed this moment of celebration with students and staff.
