Homeroom Teacher System

Homeroom Teacher System

Student Life and Wellbeing is at the heart of the school’s ethos which supports the school’s mission and vision of empowering all learners to reach their full potential. The aim is to prepare our students to face the real world for tertiary education and beyond.

Northfields has a friendly and enthusiastic Homeroom Teacher system with the aim of supporting all students in their daily activities. The school has a dedicated homeroom time with clearly defined activities in developing the student holistically. PSHE also forms part of these sessions and involves active discussions and debate on many topics of interest to young people. Homeroom Teachers ensure that they understand each student and together set holistic targets for the year. The Homeroom Teacher- student time every morning and afternoon sets the tone for a positive and uplifting experience. The Class Captain provides assistance to the Homeroom Teacher and their peers in promoting a happy environment.

To support the Homeroom Teachers, the school has a system of Year Group Leaders who are responsible in maintaining excellent care and guidance to students and staff across their year groups. Year Group Leaders ensure that all students have a good understanding of the school’s mission/vision and all policies which directly affect student life such as the Behaviour Management Policy. Both Homeroom Teachers and Year Group Leaders ensure that all students are protected in line with our Safeguarding Policy. With the collaboration of the School Nurse and the Counsellor, the school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for all students emphasising on safety and wellbeing.
